I will be talking about my third boudoir experience in this blog post so if hearing about an empowered woman who took control of her self love makes you uncomfortable. This one is probably not for you.
In the past, I did two other boudoir photo-shoots. they were late last year and they turned out beautiful as well. Ultimately I did these two shoots for my then boyfriend, and for myself in the end. I felt as if the "and for myself" always came second though. They were not themed, parse, mostly just wearing a shirt of his and some of his favorite lingerie. I'll post a few photos from them below:
I had one planned for the month after we broke up and eventually bailed resorting in giving my sister a mini bridal shoot which I am so grateful I was able to do. While regaining my self confidence and self worth, I was working on loving myself even more than before. I was getting more in tune with myself and finding a deeper love for my body. Since I was on a track towards self love before the break up, I continued it after. With more fire and urgency this time.
I received and alert on my phone stating that Nicole of Lipstick and Lace Photography was holding Halloween sessions in early October and I jumped at the opportunity. Since this would have been my third session with Nicole, I already felt comfortable and immediately got excited. I picked the 15 minute mini session which would give me five digital photos of my choice for the price of $75. Now, this is a cheaper version of her shoots and it was just what I was looking for.
With my date and time set, I was on the look for the perfect outfit for this shoot. I know I wanted something on theme with Halloween while also being classic, timeless and a visual representation of the "new" me. Of course this is EXACTLY what I got. I can not say enough great things about Nicole and what she does but that is for a whole separate blog post or video. π
I picked the outfit; a body suit & robe I found on Fashion Nova, will leave links + pics below. The total of the outfit was approx: $70 including a pair of spooky socks and cute earrings from my work's gift shop. (I know, I shop there too muchπ¬)
Body Suit:

Robe:

Overall the outfit was a HIT and it was one of the most comfortable bodysuits I have ever worn (and still wear). The robe came a little bit damaged but it was too close to shoot day when I noticed so I just fixed it at home. I also borrowed a witches hat from one of the other Lipstick and Lace ladies to complete the look. I am very pleased with the outcome!
When I got there, Nicole was finishing up with the woman before me and I helped myself to water, sparkling cider (usually mimosas but it was too fast of a shoot) and chocolates. I made small talk while the other woman was getting redressed, made a few last minute wardrobe checks and we carried on! Right off the bat I'm of course very comfortable with Nicole and her assistant and with powerful women anthems playing in the background, we did the shoot! It is a VERY comfortable setting and I always say how amazed I am every time of how weirdly comfortable I am taking off my clothes for a "stranger" with a camera π.
The constant support from Nicole and her assistant was empowering and uplifting. I felt like a total badass and so sexy. I was expecting a couple poses and then being rushed out for it being only 15 minutes but it was the complete opposite! It did not feel rushed at all and we got easily 10-12 poses in. Needless to say: Nicole is a total badass too and she rocked that day shooting me and many other women that day.
When I say this shoot was for me I mean just that. I didn't have any outward pressure to have to feel "perfect", I didn't have any deadline or rush to tell anyone or show anyone. I was completely on my own time and purpose. I got to share it with those who I wanted to. I got to show the photos to those whom I trust and that in itself is uplifting for me. When I see these photos I see the wildly powerful, strong, amazing, badass that I am. AND I LOVE THAT. I am able to look at myself in a different, extremely positive light and for that,I am incredibly grateful. I ended up purchasing 4 more of the photos because I could not pick π but ultimately I am happy with my decisions. Some of them I will be sharing on my instagram every now and then and won't include them in this post just to preserve SOME mystery. She also sent me home with a lovely Polaroid so I felt as if I had something to go home with! Which I think is the cutest thing ever and so very thoughtful and unique.
Now, for the part I'm sure you've all been waiting for or at least skipped to the end for: the photos.
