To the 21 year old who is an old soul and thinks she has her life together.

This could be the past you.
This could be the future you.
This could be you now.

Maybe you have a really great job. Maybe you are going to school right now, and not completely failing. Maybe you have a really great support system. Maybe you are out on your own, paying your own bills. Maybe you finally feel on a good path, mentally wise. Maybe you are working hard every single day to work towards success and happiness.

Maybe...

You will never live up to others expectations when it comes to your age. You will always be that person who is 21 years old. You will hesitate to tell people your age because you are afraid they will treat you differently. You will hear "yeah but" and it will most likely end in "you're so young". You will never act your age because that is not where you are mentally. You will be asked many times if your parents pay your bills.

Your age will often come up in conversations because sometimes people can not fathom that a "baby" like you is doing so good in life. Sometimes it is flattering, other times; belittling.

The truth is, you have always been like this. Gotten a long with the adults more, so willing to blow off people your age to have a quiet night to yourself. Parties and going out seems nauseating but you try, to say you did it (and with the forceful gathering of said support system).

To the 21 year old who is an old soul and thinks she has her life together, I see you. I feel you. I understand.
